Cruise and Fish Rotorua
Lakes & Rivers
Some of the best fishing the Central North Island offers is accessed from Rotorua.
Cruise and Fish Rotorua offers both fishing charter packages for rainbow and brown trout on Lake Tarawera, and fly fishing adventures and on other lakes, rivers and streams around the region, including helifishing adventures to more remote areas.
Cruise or fish the scenic waters of Lake Tarawera for Rotorua’s famous rainbow trout from the thermal waters of Te Rata Bay at the foot of Mount Tarawera, to scenic native bush. You can even have your catch cooked in the hot sands while you relax in a natural thermal pool. Tarawera’s boat fishing season is from 1 October to 30 June, and there are fly fishing and spin fishing options from the shoreline from 1 July to 30 September.
The best time to fish is during the summer months with the options of dry fly, nymphing and wet line fishing for famous New Zealand brown and rainbow trout.
Custom packages are available to create special memories of your time in Rotorua.
NZ Fishing Guides Association
As Cruise and Fish Rotorua is a member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association, you are guaranteed that a code of ethics will be adhered to and that rivers and streams on the Department of Conservation (DOC) estate have a concession, making sure that there are no embarrassing moments if you are checked. Health and safety is also paramount and is covered by the association’s audited health and safety plan that meets the latest Work Safe NZ HSW standards.
