Puawai Jade

Māori Culture

Puawai Jade is a pounamu/greenstone carving workshop and gallery showcasing a range of beautiful jewellery, carvings and artefacts that are all made on site.

Dedicated to quality, Puawai Jade is locally owned and takes its name from a deeply significant family name, Puawai, which means “blossom”.

Specialist pounamu (jade) carver Niki Nepia is famed for both his traditional art forms and contemporary work. He produces work that is innovative, unique and impressively complex. See him creating in the workshop, or admire the wide range of pieces that he and his co-artist have created. New designs are featured each month and orders are taken for custom-designed products as well.

Conveniently located at the lake end of Eat Streat, and open Tuesday to Sunday.
